Thank you for your question. We do not recommend insulation behind the unit. Only dry wall should go around the unit.

The instructions state that a piece of lumber (unspecified length and size)is to be included and used to mount 33 5/8 inches above the tub. That piece was not included in my kit.
When reading the previous questions I am confused by what is needed and how to install properly.
The answers to previous questions imply. using a 2x 4 in between the existing studs. This is contrary to the instructions online and in the box that state to mount it on the outside of the 2.x4's.
What seems to be recomended online in the question and answers is a 2x4 is to be used. However the instructions say use 1.25 " drywall screws to mount. A 1.25" drywall screw will not fit in a 2x4 which is 1.5". Please clarify precisely the contradictions I am seeing.
Thank you!!

Answer:
Thank you for your question and I apologize for the confusion. We used to include the wood peice in the packaging and no longer do. We have not changed the instructions to say use the 2X4 peices to mount behind the wall.
We still do recommend using 2 2X4 peices of wood in the center of the wall flush with the studs. This will satisfy plumbing codes.

Answer:
I have contacted Peerless. They have remanufactured the design to no longer require fluch mounting a back board brace but to insert them in between the 2x4's about half way up. If you call them they can email you the updated instruction sheet. I am not sure why they do not put that on the website as this would save a lot of frustration. i have attached my copy.

Your installation instructions show a back panel support that is to be mounted on surface of the studs 33 5/8" above the top of the tub. It was not in the box with the wall units and I need to know thickness, width, and length of this board that I am ultimately to put glue on to help stiffen the back of the tub surround.
