Shameless Faucet Showoffery

The Moral? Read Instructions Carefully

I'm submitting this story under a fake name to protect the innocent (a.k.a. my embarrassed husband). We added a new master bath to our house and “Bob”, handy guy that he is, decided to handle most of the work himself. Part of this project included the installation of a brand new Peerless shower. The installation instructions were great. Sadly, Bob's reading skills and attention to detail were a bit lacking that day.

The first problem arose when Bob ignored my dad's sage advice to “measure twice, cut once.” Yep, you guessed it. Bob cut the hole for the faucet in the wrong area of the shower panel. We had to order a whole new panel!

That problem behind us, we moved on to actual installation. Bob put all of the plumbing in and we turned the water back on, prepared to enjoy our new shower. Sadly, I shouldn't have believed him when he told me he tested everything for leaks. When we turned the shower on, it leaked into the wall, creating quite a mess. The culprit? Good 'ol Bob forgot the Teflon tape.

Everything has been cleaned up and properly installed now, and we are loving our new Peerless shower.

P.S. Next time, I'm the one in charge of reading the instructions!

Tip: Read the instructions carefully and always listen to dad's advice.
